Avery Michel is a family nurse practitioner at Urgent Care East and Mesa Immediate Care in Casper.
Avery grew up in West Palm Beach, Fla., and developed an interest in medicine at a young age. Her mother was a nurse at a primary care office, and Avery grew up going to the office with her. Avery's oldest sister later became a nurse in a NICU, newborn intensive care unit, and Avery volunteered a preemie cuddler.
"This essentially started my journey to becoming a pediatric intensive care nurse and then a family nurse practitioner," she said.
Avery worked as a pediatric ICU nurse in a trauma hospital for five years before taking the position at Urgent/Immediate Care.
"I just loved Casper after coming out for my interview. Everyone involved in the process was so kind and down to earth. This was a big deal to me as I know these are the people who later become part of your work family," she said. "It is nice to work with providers that care and go the extra mile to ensure continuity of care."
